Whence the Doctrine to be observed from the words, is, That the Continuance of the Lords gracious Presence with a People, from fathers to children after them, is a special favour of God,

4. When Ordinances are unprofitable, and empty things, void of Spiritual advantage; when men use them but as bad bargains, they lose rather then gain by them:

that men live in the light of Gospel dispensations, and yet walk in the darkness of their own hearts, not knowing whether they must go to Heaven or Hell at last, little stability, little comfort by all the means they enjoy!
