It is somewhat incredible which Pope Innocent the third relateth of himself, that he called himself Sponsum Ecclesiae, the Spouse of the Church, about 1210. But it is intolerable, that Gregory the tenth durst put it into a Decretal, 1272, that the Pope is Sponsus Ecclesiae, the Spouse of the Church, blaspheming in Print against our Saviors prerogative.
