Now, as I shew'd the positive injunction of the Lord vvas a sufficient Reason to enforce the duties of children: so this inhibition or negative precept is of equal strength to move Parents unto theirs; sith it plainly shews the Will of him who hath an uncontrollable dominion, that Parents conduct should be moderated according to those equitable positive, as well as negative pr cepts that have been produced in the enumeration of the foregoing particulars. And the special one in my Text carries with it a reason drawn from the end, lest the Children should be consumed with sorrows, saith the Syriack version: others, |
