Note 0 Besides the third & fourth General Councils of Lat. see the General Council of Lyons in the Decree for the recovery of the Holy Land. That the Sentence of Deposition against Frederick the Emperour, was the act of the Council as well as of the Pope, is proved by the Author of the Supplement to Parson's Discussion, &c. See also M. Paris, p 666, 667, 668. The Council of Trent (though it was then no time to speak plain) passed such a Decree ( Sess. 25.) as was sufficient to keep up the claim to this power.
