Chrysost. de Lazaro. S. 3. Tom. V. p. 245. 18. The reading of Scripture is a great security against sin. The ignorance of Scripture is a great precipice, and a deep pit. It is a great Betraying of our Salvation to know nothing of the Laws of God. It is this, that hath brough forth Heresies; this that has brought in corrupt life; this hath turnd things upside down. For it is impossible, I say it is impossible for any one to depart without fruit that enjoys reading continually with observation. |
