Canon Anno 1571. of Pre•••ers. We are obliged, under pain of Excommunication, to teach nothing but what is agreeable to the Old and New Testament, and what the Catholic Fathers and Antient Bish•ps have gathered out of that very Doctrin. Statut. 1. Eliz. 1. We judg all those things to be Heresie which were declared so by the four General Councils: therein following the Judgment of the Antient Church. See Aelfrics Saxon Canon 33. There were four Councils for defence of the Faith against Haereties. — There were many 〈 ◊ 〉, since that time, but these four were the most firm. |
