In-Text When I contemplate on God Almighty as the NONLATINALPHABET, (to use the phrase of the Pythagoreans, ) both as a God, and as a Creator, In his Essence, and in his Attributes, in the Unity of his Nature, and in the Variety of his Works; I know not whether I should conclude him to be more simple in Himself, or else more different in his Dispensations. And though this Difference does appear in the whole oeconomy of the Creation; yet is it no where so conspicuous, as it is betwixt us, and our Fellow-Creatures. Which if we have leisure but to compare, we shall find in other Creatures so many Traces of God's Divinity, But withal in our selves such great Remarques of his special Favour, that though to Them he is a just and a gracious God, I may say that to us he is a Partial one.
