But the Case is quite Another, (and stands upon quite another Ground,) in his dealing out the Things of This dying life, the Things which perish in the using, the Things whose Fashion passeth away, such as All the things are which the World calls Great. In things of Temporary Concernment, (such as those I now speak of,) it pleaseth God to act and argue as an Absolute Soveraign; to make his peremptory Will his sufficient Reason; to prove the Rectitude of his Actions from his right of Dominion, and his Omnipotence. Not only Mary in her Magnificat observes and celebrates God's Pleasure, in his putting down the Mighty, and in his raising up the Meek, But even Hesiod does the same as an Heathen Poet.
