When our Master does vouchsafe to liken himself unto a Merchant, and Eternity in a Parable is put to sale; Love and Obedience are the two Talents, wherewith Eternity is to be Purchac't, Not that the Iewel is worth so little, but the Merchant exacts no more. That is to say, (without a parable) Love and Obedience are the Conditions, on which the Promises are made. And obedience is the Criterion, by which alone we are enabled to know our Love.
