In-Text This was plainly signified by the Jewish Passover, wherein the Lamb was slain, and the Sinner did escape and was pass'd by. In allusion whereto St. Paul makes no scruple to call Christ our Passover or Paschal Lamb, who was slain that we might escape: Christ our Passover, says he, is slain or offer'd for us; that is, He by the gracious appointment of God was substituted to suffer all that in our stead which the Paschal Lamb was supposed to suffer for the Sinner.
