In-Text	Now tho' this was a religious Ceremony used both by Jews and Gentiles, and without any Divine Institution, that we know of, our blessed Saviour (who in none of his Institutions seems to have favour'd unnecessary Innovations) was so far from the superstition of declining it upon this account, that it had been in religious use both among Jews and Gentiles, that he seems the rather to have chosen it for that very reason.
