THIS Psalm is generally thought to have been compos'd by that great Master of Poetry and Devotion, King David; and it further appears, both from the matter and stile thereof, to have been a Pious and Gratulatory Hymn of his own penning, wherein he does very religiously acknowledge the special vouchsafement of God's Mercy and Goodness towards him, in that he was advanced so miraculously and providentially from the low and despicable State of a Shepherd; |
