In-Text So that in brief (to gather up what we have hitherto scatter'd) the Scoffers here meant, are those, who promising themselves to Gods service, do delude him when he looks to find them amongst his Servants, i. e. remain errand Atheists under a Christian profession, who by letting loose either their wits to prophane jests, or their reason to Heathenish conceits and disputings, or their actions to all manner of disobedience, demonstrate that indeed they care not for God, they scarce remember his name, Neither is he in all their thoughts, Psalm x. 4. In the next place, walking after their own lusts, is giving themselves liberty to follow all the directions of corrupt polluted nature, in entertaining all conceits and practices which the pride of their understandings and rankness of their affections shall propose to them in opposition to God.
