To boast the Beauty of Body, is to have a great defect in the Judgement, which is the Beauty of the Soul. It's verily a desperate Vanity, when a Lady, under the Colour that some scribling Rimer hath given her the Locks of Aurora, the Eyes of Venus, the Port of Juno, the Feet of Thetis, makes her self the Queen of Antioch, and glorifies her self many times with a Beauty meerly imaginary Queen Stratonica, the Wife of Sel•ucus, had not one Haire upon her Head, yet notwithstanding gave six hundred Crowns to a Poet, who had celebrated her in his Verse, and sung that her Haire had the tincture of the Marigold. |
