It is manifest that Sylvester was the author of this rite, of the consecration of Altars. Now Sylvester ascended to the Popedome in the yeare 314. So by Bellarmines opinion, (and what writer among the Papists is of greater authoritie then Bellarmine? ) by Bellarmines opinion there were no Altars of vse in the Church before the yeare 314.
