they were instituted to be Figures and Shadows (silent Prophesies) of the death of the Messiah; and the vertue they had of expiating legal Guilt, was a suitable Type of the infinite efficacy and meritoriousness of the Blood of the Son of God, which was a sufficient Expiation of the Moral and Eternal Guilt of the Sins of all Mankind.
