By heart you know is naturally meant that piece of flesh that is in the body, which they say, it is primum vivens, and ultimum moriens: but morally and spiritually by the heart is meant the soule,

Hardning in the naturall signification of it, is nothing but the withdrawing of moysture form any substance, whereby the parts come to bee condensed and made stiffe,

Take that which is most usuall in the Scripture, the Lord ordinarily expresses this devillish hardness of heart, by the comparison of an untamed heifer, of a bullock that refuses to carry the yoke, to draw, or to plow;
